Lorisian Food Intolerance Tests – £195 / £235 / £270

What is it?

A few drops of blood are taken using our simple finger prick blood collection wick system. Because the finger prick system is so easy to use, the sample can be taken anywhere – at our premises,
at our clients’ home etc. The sample is then sent to the Lorisian laboratory, tested and analysed for IgG antibody reactions to more than 150 food and drink ingredients.
Results are given back to you by way of a clear colour coded system that explains your  food and drink intolerances in a simple, easy to understand format. We will then discuss in detail any recommended dietary and nutritional changes – a fast track to an elimination diet that optimises health and wellbeing.

We are a registered Lorisian practitioner. Lorisian is a market leader in healthcare labortory testing and specialises in offering laboratory tests that measure food specific IgG antibodies – known as food intolerances.

What is food intolerance?

There is a lot of confusion about the terms food intolerance and food allergy, and the differences between them. Many people think they have a food allergy when their symptoms can sometimes indicate food intolerance instead. Up to 45% of the population suffer from food intolerance* which, whilst not life threatening, can have a negative impact on many aspects of daily life.
When foods and drinks are digested the proteins within them are broken down into smaller fragments for easy absorption into the body. Larger fragments can pass through without breaking down, and sometimes the body reacts to them as invaders, attacking them using antibodies called Immunoglobulin (IgG). This can cause inflammation and a wide range of symptoms including headaches, digestive problems, IBS, bloating, itchy skin, joint pain, weight gain and low mood to name a few.

Diabetes Check Test – £95

What is it?

The Lorisian Diabetes Test is a quick and easy finger-prick blood test which measures levels of glycosylated haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in your blood. HbA1c measures your average blood glucose (sugar) levels over the past three months. As a result, this test is a useful indicator and allows for early detection of risk for diabetes.

Why have a diabetes check test?

A number of factors can cause high blood glucose levels which subsequently leads to high HbA1c levels. Over a period of time, high glucose levels in your blood can seriously damage your heart, your eyes, your feet and your kidneys. These are known as the complications of diabetes. Having diabetes increases your risk of the following:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Kidney Disease
  • Eye Disease
  • Amputations
  • Depression
  • Neuropathy (damage to the nerves)
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Complications in pregnancy
  • Dementia
  • Reduced life expectancy and increased mortality

Liver Check Test – £95

What is it?

A quick blood sample is collected using our finger prick system and then tested for ALT and AST using the Refletron POC Analyser in the laboratory.

ALT refers to alanine aminotransferase and AST to aspartate aminotransferase. ALT and AST are enzymes found in the liver. If the liver is damaged these enzyme proteins are released
into the blood. Elevated blood ALT and AST levels mean damage to liver cells which release these proteins into the blood, the higher the level means a greater degree of liver “stress”.

Why have a liver check test?

  • Liver disease is the only major cause of death still increasing year on year
  • Liver disease is the fifth ‘big killer’ in England & Wales, after heart, cancer, stroke and respiratory disease
  • Death rates for liver disease have increased 400% since 1970, and in people aged younger than 65 years they have risen almost five fold.
  • Liver disease kills more people than diabetes and road deaths combined.

Homocysteine Test – £145

What is it?

This test is quick and easy, delivering reliable laboratory test results within just 21 days. All we need is small blood sample, which is obtained with a simple prick of the finger. We will then analyse the blood to ascertain your homocysteine level.

Why have a homocysteine check test?

The importance of homocysteine as a marker for health and wellbeing is becoming clearer. There are an increasing number of studies that show homocysteine to be a predictor of potential health problems. Raised blood homocysteine concentrations can both predict the development of heart disease and strokes; in older people even better than any usual measure of risk including cholesterol, blood pressure or smoking. Women with high homocysteine levels find it harder to conceive and are at risk from repeated early miscarriage. Raised levels of homocysteine have also been implicated in migraine and linked to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, declining memory, poor concentration and judgement and lowered mood.

QBI Health Scan – £65 / £95 / £175

What is it?

The QBI health scan is a non-invasive health check that works through reading electromagnetic wave signals emitted by the human body. These wave signals represent the specific state of the human body. The emitted electromagnetic wave signals are different under the different conditions of the human body, such as health, sub-health, disease, etc. If we can determine these specific electromagnetic wave signals, we can determine the status of the body’s health.

Taking around 3 minutes to complete, makes for a quick, easy, stress free experience.
